What is Ghana? How do you describe it? Actually, we can’t!
But for you, we will try. So we will tell you about an unbelievable moment.

Tuesday evening:
It is 7 pm. and the sun is already gone. A breeze comes up and the temperature is perfect. We are going to sit on a higher place with a beautiful view. We see the green garden with a lot of trees. Small one, big one, high one…. Because of the dark blue sky we cannot see the colors, but we can see the beautiful shapes of the African banana and cassava tree. And far away we see all the lights in different colors from Kumasi.
In the background we hear the animals: the whistling bird, the croaking frog and the crickets. We cannot hear the fire flies, but we see them all over the place. We look up and see the clear dark sky with thousands of stars. On the other side it is really cloudy. A storm.  We see the lightning showing us the beautiful shapes of the clouds. It looks a little pink around them. We see this over and over again. It is amazing!
We look at this for minutes and minutes. First we were talking about what we saw, but now we are quiet. We are just looking and enjoy it. All these things together give you a special feeling that makes you so happy! It makes you wonder, why leave Ghana?

Ingrid and Kaat

Hi, I` m a volunteer, working in Daycare Tamarinde for two weeks and I`ve four weeks more to go.

The children are very motivated to play with the `Obruni`. It makes me feel welcome here.  I`ve started some activities, I would like to repeat every week. Hoping it will go better, so I can make it a little bit more difficult each time. I`m looking forward to see the results of it in four weeks.
Working with these children is not always that easy. Some days everything goes just perfect and some days it seems like everything goes wrong,
nothing works. Communication often makes it difficult. No matter what I ask the children, their answer is always `Yes`. It means I have to put a lot of energy and creativity in communication. I always got to find a way to make it possible to understand. What works for child or group A doesn`t always work for child or group B. So it`s a challenge every time again. But once I succeed and the children are playing and having fun, I know it`s worth the challenge. It`s such a good feeling to see them having fun. I can really enjoy these moments!
I also feel the differences in culture. For example, In my eyes it`s important to be polite. The
children only get something when they say `please` or `thank you`. In Ghana, people don`t say `please` or `thank you`. They just order you something without asking polite. It means I can`t expect these children to be polite to me. I think it would be selfish to make them do something that`s important to me or my culture, while it`s not a common thing to do in their own culture. As you see, it gives me a lot of challenges to work here. I`m learning a lot about the culture of Ghana, but I`m also learning a lot about myself. I think it`s really nice to discover myself this way!

Goatheard

Seven goats are enjoying their new habitat at the Kokobeng compound! They drink from the water basin and take shelter
under the roof. Another basin will be made in which to serve them their food. Apart from the gras and bushes we give them all kinds of dried peelings. These cannot be placed on the ground as worms may enter and
consequently sicken the goats.Three of them are pregnant. This means we can soon drink goat milk! We will however need to learn how to milk goats as the Ghanaians don't drink goat milk.
